She fainted trying to get registered

The picture shows a lady that fainted in Imo state university, Owerri, yesterday 16th November, 2014 while trying to get registered at the registration centre at CD block IMSU.
All the centres for this registration are overcrowded but as expected, the students environment is something else especially with words going around that the Imo state government will use the voters card as criterion for somethings like free education.
I had to leave my house by 4am yesterday to go deep into Okwu-Uratta to get registered.
What has been your experience?

TRADERS LAMENT OVER LONG SANITATION PERIOD IN LAGOS

Traders in Lagos metropolis have expressed displeasure on the business hours they lose every week during the Thursdays market sanitation in the state.
They told the News Agency of Nigeria in separate interviews in Lagos that the weekly exercise during which, they had to lock shops, was a loss of man power.

The weekly market sanitation lasts between 7:00 am and 10:00 am.
Mr Edward Osin, a printer at Shomolu, said that locking shops for the sanitation was a waste of time and should be discontinued.
He argued that the purpose of the weekly sanitation was to keep the market environment clean.
Mr. Bathelomew Eze, a businessman, called on the government to review the policy to ensure standard environmental sanitation.
“It is a loss of manpower in terms of productivity.
“I believe markets can be opened while environment is still being cleaned, rather than make people lose substantial time of the day.
“Government should make the time flexible for businessmen like us because, in three hours, businesses are lost and this is not good for the economy,” he said.
Eze said that the environmental personnel like the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) should be strengthened to enforce the law and sanction erring traders appropriately.
But Mr Taye Sanwo, a commercial cab driver in Lawanson, supported the three-hour sanitation.

He stressed the need for strong enforcement of the law to improve the conditions in the markets.
The driver appealed to traders to comply with the sanitation law so that businesses can be transacted under clean and hygienic environment.

Some people still don't understand that cleanliness is next to godliness!

IMSU in Dire Need More Banks and ATMs

Not having money is annoying but having money but being unable to access it is even more annoying.
The above picture shows the kind of crowd that gathers about the Access bank ATM located beside the Auditorium of Imo state university.
Most times the crowd gets beyond that pictured above. This is because the school only boasts of one commercial banks and only 2 ATM points.
The only commercial bank located in the school is Zenith bank which is situated after the students affairs department and and behind the admissions unit. It has one functioning ATM but usually does not pay. The bank is currently installing new ATM machine.
The other ATM point is located beside the IMSU auditorium at the front of ETF 2 building. Although the ATMs there were recently replaced by the Access bank that own it, the two machines seldom work at the same time.
This ATM's are almost always overcrowded during the day because of the many people who depend on it to for withdrawal.
But IMSU is big enough to have more than just one commercial bank inside. I wonder what's holding Diamond and Access banks from establishing a branch within the school premesis.
If anyone from these banks or someone from the management of the school is reading this, the students of IMSU want you to know that they need more banks and more ATMS too.

200 LEVEL IMO STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT ELECTROCUTED BY HIGH TENSION WIRE, COURSEMATES MOURN

In life, it is funny that some of the most useful things are also some of the most dangerous. One of those things is electricity. Our lives are made difficult without it (I won't have been blogging without it) and lives are easily ended when excessively exposed to the raw form of it. One more life was ended about 2 weeks ago when a 200 level Imo State University Student, Okafor-Uba Promise Onyebuchi of the Department of Biochemistry (Pictured above) got electricuted while trying to fix a faulty electrical line.
Report from departmental mates and his neighbours (from the Bishop's court area of IMSU) said the young man threw caution to wind and climbed an electrical pole on a rainy day to fix a faulty line, but unfortunately got electrocuted by a high tension wire.
HE has already been buried.
Gossip: Some people made mention that what motivated the guy to engage in the fatal adventure was that he offered to fix the electric fault in order to receive a pay that would have been made to an electrician who was contacted to repair the fault. This is however unconfirmed. However, whatever the case, don't ever try this. Leave professional work for professionals.
You remember that thing they say? Fire is a good servant but a terrible master. Electricity is a horrendous master.
Meanwhile, yesterday, 8th October, 2014, his coursemates from the Biochemistry department in the faculty of Science, IMSU, marched round the school in black as they sang songs of lamentation and some could not hold back their tears. I heard one staff say, "I knew him, he was humble whenever he came here".
The mourning procession was led by Celestine Igwe, course rep BCM 200 level.
My the family of the departed have the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
BCM Students mourn the loss
