IMSU outgone SUG executives pose for lovely picture

Outgone Imo state university Students Union Government executives led by Nwanna Chukwuemeka Legacy (pictured kissing his vice, Odunze Sandra Mama)in a lovely photoshoot.
They handed over to the new administration yesterday, 24th January, 2017 at the Imo state university auditorium.
Good luck to you all.
Below is the farewell speech of the outgone SUG president.

"Valedictory Speech Presented By the 15th Republic Student Union Government Executive Of Imo State University. Led By Sen. Nwanna Emeka Maxwell (a.k.a LEGACY). This day 24th January 2017.

Truly, “There is time for everything under the sun”. History  was made on the 24th day of July 2015 when the Students decided through their votes. The election saw to the emergence of the 13 (thirteen) executive members with Nwanna Emeka Maxwell (a.k.a LEGACY) and Odunze Sandra (a.k.a Mama) as the President and Vice respectively. The House of Parliament subsequently elected Rt. Hon. Ugwueke Jonathan Onwukwe as the Speaker of the 15th Republic. While, his Lordship Chikere Francis Emerged as the Chief Judge of the Union to form the political triangulate, that ensured a democratic Governance.
In as much as we have done Little or Nothing, we would also allow our LEGACIES TO ECHO for it’s self, now that we have come to the end of our administration. In his usual words, “We have come to add value to what life has and not to share from it” Rt. Hon. Speaker Jonathan Onwukwe . This words of wisdom has been our mantra towards ensuring that various sacrifices were made which brought about the LEGACIES this Republic has left behind.
We meet a Union that was on recess for more than one year. She had no secretariat nor office. The one She use to have was demolished by the former Vice Chancellor Prof. A.U Awuzie, to enable the structural development of the University. “We still hope for a new one till date”. The Union could not also boast of a vehicle to enhance her response to the issues and Health emergencies usually encountered in our various alliances since the university runs an off-campus Students residency.
In all, to God be thy Glory who saw us thus far. If truly “we have done Little or Nothing”, this Republic has set a record as the longest serving Students Union Government in the University, all because of the relative peace we brought to the system and today, our Union enjoys a position at the University Council with one delegate as a member of the Budget Monitoring Committee (BMC), with the advantage of knowing how the “Tertiary Education Trust Fund” (TET Fund) meant for the development of the University is utilized. This was made possible by the first female Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Mrs Adaobi Victoria Obasi (The Silent Achiever) and please don’t expect me to call her the “Acting V.C”.
We did not only bring relative peace, but we are leaving behind a vehicle donated to the union by the Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency, Dr Anayo Rochas Okorocha OON. This gift is the first of its kind to any student union government in the state since the inception of the Rescue Mission Administration. Our sincere appreciation goes to Hon. Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the Chief of staff Imo State Government, who did not only facilitated the Union vehicle but in his students friendly manner, provided for the union, Two Modern Toilet Facilities with bore-hole each, to help boost union’s IGR (Internally Generated Revenue) and ease our stress while seeking for convenience. Thank you Sen. Odunze Sandra for that initiative.
We are also not unmindful of the support and trust to excel, bestowed on us by the various Alliance Presidents, Faculty and Departmental Presidents, Course Reps and students of Imo State University at large, which earned us the “Best Student Union Government in Nigeria” 2015-2016 secession, after a clear contest at the premier University of Nigeria, IBADAN, on the 18th-22nd April 2016.
All thanks to the senators and judges, most especially to my God given directors/ Executive members who initiated, attracted and executed some projects and programs like: Ladies week, Health summit and free medical check-up, distribution of free mosquito nets to students, empowerment programs, Ugwumba football tournament, operation keep Imsu clean in partnership with Rotaract Club Imsu. All these were done without the relegation of campus social life through the office of director of socials whom in many occasion, hosted top Nigerian artistes. The DOS also sustained the edition and contest of MR & MISS Imsu Beauty pageant.
The leadership of Rt. Hon. Ugwueke Jonathan led parliament has completed the restructuring and amendment of the Union constitution that has lasted for over 15 (fifteen) years. No wonder it is said that administration is continuous as the constitution now awaits the final endorsement of the President. Currently, the constitution is with the office of the student adviser for proofreading and onward advise for the approval of the Dean Student Affairs.
We therefore, call on the university management to please improve in their bid towards completing the project of the school students hostels, to help reduce the high level of increment in hostel rent and intimidation by private hostel owners/landlords. This hostels if completed and put to use will help reduce, not only the cost in rent but will help protect lives and properties, most especially, the rights of Nigerian students towards unlawful arrest of some innocent students whom in most cases are left with outrageous bail-out conditions. In all of these challenges, our students have not taken laws into their hands.
We prayed God to give us the strength to accept those things we cannot change. For this, I humbly seek you all to please assist in observing a minute silence for all the students who lost their lives in one way or the other during this time of our service to humanity.
Just as no family would exist without disagreement nor misunderstanding, this was the case at some point in our administration where the underlisted names played advisory role in ensuring a successful administration. Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor (member representing Okigwe South). Hon. Uju Kingsley, (Deputy Chief of Staff IMGH), Hon. Engr. Uche Agabige (member Orsu state constituency), Dr. Emeka Ejikeonye (University Registrar), Prof. Okee Okoro ( the University Librarian and the Longest Serving Imo State University Principal Officer), Prof. Anthony Okere (Dean Student Affairs), Prof. Prince Sam Ezeanyika (Student Staff Adviser), Barr. Kennedy Enesha (H.O.D English and Literary Studies), the University CSO. Names too numerous to mention due to time and space.
Yes we have done Little or Nothing but history (LEGACY) has it today that “we are Successful because we have Successors”. For the first time in history of Imsu SUG, the union is not dissolved by the University management for another election to be conducted and handover.      To God Be The Glory.!"
